It's not About me - Max Lucado

When I'm already loaded with information relating to medical words. I read this as my lullaby to have a good night sleep.

A spiritual re-awakening.

it's a 170 page book that told me repeatedly that the world does not revolve around you. We bear problems like it's the end of the world and we carry them as if we are given the heaviest load. It's not about me, It's about God, we owe Him everything. Again, Its not as easy as it sounds especially when we we live in this present histrionic world. Where everyone is painting the town red and that everyone has the world as his stage.

"He does not reveal his glory for His good, we need to witness it for ours."
"His plan for you was born in eternity, and will withstand the attack of humanity"
"Satan trained millions of demons to whisper one question in our ears, what are people thinking of you?"

There are a lot of quoatable quotes in the book. This book made me view life differently. And I'll borrow some of his other books soon. It'll take time to apply its message but it is a process and we should all start now. People should see God in us. It's not all about me, to God be the Glory.

I like the metaphors and examples that he used in this book. There was this one exapmple that made me smile. A frog convinced the two birds to fly with a stick on each end. Then the frog bit and tightly clenched his jaw in the middle of the stick so as to make himself fly too. The the cow saw it, he asked "That's brilliant! Who gave you that idea?". The frog screamed "I diiiiii..." and so he fell. Pride goes before destruction. It somehow hit me. But I think I've matured enough to admit it and I've already dealt with my demons and have decided not to let them eat me anymore.

One thing that bothered me. Chapter 12. He used the wonderful lives of Martin and Gracia Burnham. (Martin and Gracia foundation link here. ). Two missionaries who were captured as hostages in the Philippines by terrorists connected to the Al Queda. Although their stories echoed to the world on how God worked in those dark times. Still it bothered me on they showcased the Philippines as a bad and unsafe country. It is a beautiful country and I'm proud to be in it.
