Five missionaries are brutally murdered by a violent native tribe in Ecuador. One of the wives and a sister then go to live with the tribe to model unconditional love.End of the Spear is a 2006 docudrama film that recounts the story of Operation Auca, in which five American Christian missionaries attempted to evangelize the Huaorani (Waodani) people of the jungle of Ecuador. Taking a unique spin on actual events from the 1950s in which five male missionaries were speared by members of the Waodani tribe, the movie tells the story from the perspective of Mincayani, one of the tribesmen who killed the missionaries, and Steve Saint, the son of one of the murdered missionaries. The two eventually form a bond that continues to this day. (wikipedia)
the faces of those five missionaries while they were being speared to death by the tribe members will etch in my mind forever.. the film is all about reconciliation and trust.. the five missionaries came with a vision.. and just when they thought they got the attention and gained confidence among the tribe people.. they thought it all wrong.. but instead they were killed.. and to make the long story short.. the tribe leader eventually had a change of heart and now is a missionary in the waodani people through his wife.. i think.. couldn't understand the whole film coz almost half of the film were in their dialect and it had no subtitles whatsoever.. but one of the son of the five missionaries that were killed came back to the tribe to continue his dad's work.. and later found a friend through Mincayani their tribe leader..think most people might think that loving your father's killer is a little sick, but when the movie unfolds and you understand the clash between the two cultures, it make sense.
on the funny side.. i would say sarcastically that the moral lesson of this film is not to marry cute and handsome missionaries.. lol!! and just see them die like that.. haha..and the man who played mincayani.. his name is Louie Leonardo is really cute.. i mean you couldn't hate a man looking that good eventhough he brutally killed those 5 missionaries.. seriously, this is a wonderful film with a great message of reconciliation and faith. I hope we see more like this.
