"Politics, noun. A strife of interest masquerading as a contest of principles. The conduct of public affairs for private advantage." - Ambrose Bierce.
We've done our part. We did our best. It wasn't like it was not good enough, we did more than enough. It was mainly because we didn't sell our votes.
Sure some people told us how dirty politics can be. I never believed them until I experienced it myself.
Entering in, weren't given enough instructions that it would be like the hunger games. You're called as a group, never realizing that you'd have to stab and kill each other in the end.
Thank heavens my mom never went that far. I guess one way or another, it's still a blessing that we no longer have to deal with that type of evil anymore. It was too much for us to take. But on a lighter note, we didn't spend as much, so we're gonna be fine. We had a taste of it, and somehow that's enough. It's bittersweet but I'm glad it ended sooner rather than later.
Absurd how politicians are willing to do anything just to raise themselves up on the pedestal. These politicians are unbelievable, almost mind blowing, hilarious really.
We had this thing about people voting for my mom because of what she is, because of what she's done, her purpose, her dreams for our dear town, and simply because out of sheer love and respect for her. And never thought of actually giving someone money to vote for her. Fundings kuno, yeah, we never believed in those.
Just when I thought pavianhons are different and have grown to be smart voters, boy I was wrong! Mga daw into man gle japon. :l
But it's quite comforting to know how my mother is loved. Still overwhelmed by the outcome even though it wasn't the results our hearts silently prayed.
For the politicians who won because they gave the people money. Teh lipay kamo? What kind of self satisfaction do you actually get? Are you really going to fulfil your promises?
And for the people who actually sold their votes for 100 pesos. What the hell were you thinking? But I guess you weren't.
So bottomline, if you're thinking of running for a seat in the town's office, you only need to be rich and have a solid last name. Your credentials and experiences won't count because the majority of the voters are that clueless. Money, money, money, you'll win because of money. If you don't have enough money, you only need to have someone behind your back who's as manipulating and rich as the others.
Unfortunately, many are lured. And sad how the filipino voters turned out to be so clueless. I wanted to say stupid but those are the same. This goes out to the national senatorial results as well. Hai naku, Juan Dela Cruz.
This is a spur of the moment post. I might regret this one day but what the hell. Allow me to have this slight bitter post. Tomorrow I'll be fine, I promise. My mom's tough, she's surprisingly taking it a lot better that I do.
Read again and you'll know I'm making sense, or maybe just a bit.
But what my father said, in everything give thanks. And I'll be doing that before I close my eyes. This is nothing.
Words are never enough but I'll say it anyway, thank you to everyone who helped us. Just thank you!
We finished the race, we fought a good fight, we kept the faith.
Tomorrow's a new day, new beginning, new hope. 😐😵😌
